Day by Day
Arusha - Tarangire National Park
Depart after breakfast for the drive to Tarangire National Park, where you are scheduled to have a full-day game drive. Tarangire is a wilderness park, complete with an authentic safari atmosphere, and well known for the numerous elephants that inhabit the park. The Tarangire river is the central feature, an invaluable resource throughout all year, and the focal point, providing easy game viewing, especially during the dry season.
Apart from elephants, Tarangire Park is a paradise for bird lovers with over 480 species recorded. Depending on the season, various other animals can be found in the park, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, gazelles, zebras, leopards, and many more. The Tarangire savannah landscape is dominated by the Baobab trees a magnificent and giant tree species that grow to a height of up to 25 meters. Carbon dating on some of the Baobab trees has shown some individuals to be over 2,000 years old. Proceed to your safari camp late afternoon for dinner and overnight
Tarangire - Lake Manyara National Park
Check out after breakfast and a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara is a soda lake sitting in the Rift Valley and the surrounding wilderness is made up of diverse habitats, including lush acacia forest, grasslands, dense woodlands, and steep mountainsides. Apart from a spectacular setting, the alkaline lake attracts thousands of pink flamingos and other migratory water birds along, making part of the 350 species recorded within the park boundaries. Lake Manyara National Park also has a big number of elephants, giraffes, baboons, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, waterbucks, and warthogs, and is also famous for its tree-climbing lions. Spend the day exploring this interesting park and proceed to your safari lodge late afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park
Check-out from Lake Manyara hotel after breakfast and transfer to the Serengeti National Park. Spanning over 14,000 sq kilometers across northern Tanzania, Serengeti National Park is an ecological treasure with prolific game viewing all year round, appealing to a wide range of travelers and never failing to impress, The Serengeti, along with the Maasai Mara National Reserve in the north and the Ngorongoro Conservation area in the south play host to the world-famous wildebeest migration, one of East Africa’s great wildlife attractions.
Depending on the time of year, migrating herds numbering over one million wildebeest, zebras, and other wildlife travel in a circular migration, following seasonal rains, across the savannah grasslands and make one of the most phenomenal natural spectacles. Without the migrating herds, resident wildlife species still make for excellent game viewing and these include elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, lions, gazelles, and many others. Spend the next 4 days exploring the vast Serengeti National Park.
Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
Check out after breakfast and continue with game drives to explore the Serengeti. Picnic lunch in the park and later exit and transfer to the Ngorongoro conservation area. Check in to your safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha
After an early breakfast, descend to the crater floor for game drives. The Ngorongoro crater is both a geological and natural wonder – the largest unflooded and unbroken volcanic caldera on the planet and home to thousands of wildlife including the ‘big five’. During the game drives, you can expect to see lions, Rhinos, Hippos, elephants, Zebras and many more. After some picnic lunch, exit the crater and start the trip back to Arusha town, arriving late afternoon and marking an end to this epic journey.
